Skylar was at her apartment with a week to go before she was set to face off with Chris Matthews for the WWH International Championship. There was something in her mind telling her that she should be nervous, but she found herself just getting pumped for the upcoming match instead. But the young rookie had been training some with her boyfriend, Otto Nova, as well as his mom…the matriach of the infamous Nova Empire, Tarah Nova. And she had the advice and support that her brother, Oliver, had been giving her over the last several weeks as well. And speaking of her brother, he had come over to talk to her about the upcoming pay-per-view with WWH as well as what had was going on in her life in general. The pair had been sitting on the balcony since it was a nice day out. And of course, he had been there for a little bit already, so she was starting to zone out a little. The brunette with blue highlights finally snapped out of it, her head snapping up, when she heard her brother calling her name a few times.
Oliver Carsons: Skylar! Sheesh…am I really that boring to you? I didn’t use to be, y’know.
Skylar Carsons: Sorry, Oliver…my mind was wandering to the match next week. And you know you’re not boring to me; you’ve helped me so much with my career and with everything.
Oliver slid his sunglasses down some to look at his sister’s face, seeing the sincerity written in her eyes though he knew that she was distracted by more than just the upcoming match. He sighed as he slid the glasses back up, turning his covered gaze out to the beach view that she had from her balcony. The older of the two let out a sigh that made his sister turn her gaze to watch him for a few moments before anything else was said between the two.
Skylar Carsons: I know you’re not just here about my upcoming match with Matthews, Oliver. You’re here about more, and it’s not hard to tell…I know just by looking at you.
Oliver tore his gaze from the view to look at his little sister and sighed once more. He turned in his seat and lifted his sunglasses to the top of his head. He wanted to legit look at his sister versus looking at her through his sunglasses like he had been doing.
Oliver Carsons: I’m your brother, of course you’re going to know stuff like that. You and Kazia are the only two that have ever been able to tell when something’s up with me. I’m just worried that your career isn’t your primary focus…you just started out, and you’ve got a huge match coming up. But I know you’ve gotten serious with that Otto guy too.
Skylar rolled her eyes as she listened to what Oliver had to say. The rookie had an idea that was his actual issue rather than wanting to talk about the match itself. Truthfully, she hadn’t paid much attention to the dating scene while she was training and on the independent scene, so her brother hadn’t had to worry about that before. Skylar sighed and turned her baseball hat around, the brim now facing the back of her head and no longer shielding her eyes from the sun as she turned to look at her brother.
Skylar Carsons: Look, Oliver, I know you’re worried that my focus is gone. I’m more focused than ever, and Otto isn’t going to take that focus away from me. He and I are both focused on our careers. He and his mom have been helping me train and get ready as well. They’re helping me get ready for Chris just like you have been. You don’t have to worry about that.
Oliver just gave Skylar a look, staring at her for a few moments before letting out a final sigh. He knew there was no getting his concerns through to her properly, so it was best to just let it all go…for now at least. Depending on how things went in her match, he would try to come back to the topic. Naturally, if things went well, he’d happily eat his words and concerns, but if things went sour for her? Well, he wasn’t sure how either one of them would feel in the long run of it all. He shook his head for a moment before pushing himself out of the chair to head inside.

Skylar was at the Elysium Arena with Oliver, her having already changed into her ring gear for match against Chris Matthews. The young woman, as nervous as she was, held an air of confidence that didnt allow her nerves to peek out at all. Her brother looked at her with a smirk though that didn’t last long as he looked at the camera and began to speak.
Oliver Carsons: Tonight, the Carson name grows even more amongst the fans as my sister goes out to face Chris Matthews for the International Championship. Tonight, she begins her legacy when she becomes the new champion.
Skylar nodded in agreement as she listened to her older brother’s words. His, inadvertent, reassurance added to the fire that was already lit in her. She knew that he wasn’t actually speaking to her with those words and was doing his job as her manager, but there was something about what he said that just gave her that extra oomph of believing in herself. The spunky brunette stepped forward a touch, a big grin on her face as she did so.
Skylar Carsons: Chris Matthews…a massive force to be reckoned with, there’s no doubt about that. The man has literally been through Hell and back in his life. You can’t even begin to take away what he experienced and saw as a war veteran nor can you take away what he’s accomplished as a wrestler in his career.
Skylar paused for a moment, giving a slight nod as she turned her gaze towards her brother for a moment. The normally quiet man was silent again, letting his sister have the spotlight as he felt she deserved. He had only wanted to get her started when he had spoken a few minutes ago. He gave her a small, almost missable, nod to encourage her to continue.
Skylar Carsons: I watched Matthews during my training, during my independent scene run. I’ve seen what he has and hasn’t accomplished, what he’s come close to accomplishing, and what fell just out of his reach. I’ve seen what he’s done in WWH as well as other companies. Any other rookie might be terrified to go against him, but not me.
While it wasn’t her goal to make Matthews feel old, per say, if it gave her any kind of advantage to admit that she had watched him for years then she would happily take it. The California native knew she wouldn’t physically result to any low shots, anything that could be constituted as cheating, but she had never said, or decided for that matter, if she was above the mental cheap shots here and there.
Skylar Carsons: I totally get it if you don’t see me as a legit threat, Chris. I’m young, I’m a rookie…Hell, WWH is the first professional place that signed me. While that battle royal was huge for me, it was more like my first quiz in the big leagues whereas you? Well…you’re my first true, huge test that could set me up for what could be an amazing career. Or you could set me up to where I end up feeling like a failure for who knows how long. It all depends on what happens in that ring tonight. Whether I beat an amazing veteran like you…or whether I lose to an amazing veteran like you.
The normally bubbly brunette paused for a moment, seemingly debating on something she thought about saying or not. She gnawed on her bottom lip for a moment, glancing up and over at her older brother who gave her a gentle nod, pushing against her with his shoulder some to encourage her to continue. No longer gnawing on her lip, a half smile, half smirk came to her lips as the young beauty seemed to perk back up in confidence and nod.
Skylar Carsons: Only time will tell if I’m your next Jonna Austin. The one you just can’t seem to beat no matter how hard you try. Tonight will show if I’m the one that’s meant to fully send you packing from WWH or not, and a part of me can’t wait to see it. The audience will see a new champion crowned as an old one leaves. It’s time for the new generation to take control, and I’ll be the start of that as your new International Champion. See you out there, Chris.
With that said, Skylar grinned again, winking at the camera before she and her brother began walking off. Oliver paused long enough to give the camera a smirk and a shrug before he followed his little sister, determined to give her some last minute advice and strategy talk. After all, that was his job as her manager, and as her brother, in the long run of things.
