~~Recorded on 10/02/2021 @ hospital~~
**--Jonny is sitting in his hospital bed. He’s wearing a pair of jeans and Jonny Cedrone merchandise t-shirt. Gloria is sitting by her husband’s side. Jonny tries to calm her worrying by caressing her. She lovingly turns her attention to Jonny and looks deeply into his eyes before leaning in for a kiss. Gloria and Jonny notice the doctor coming in.--**
“What’s up Doc?”
“Good news. No evidence of a concussion. Just get some rest. If you start off easy then gradually increase your training through time, you should be good to go for your match on Halloween.”
“Thank you so much Dr. Ann!”
“Aw no thanks is needed hun. Your money will due just fine.”
**--All three share a laugh before Dr. Ann continues--**
“Well Jonny, if you sign these papers you’ll be a free man.”
**--Jonny signs the papers and hands them back to Dr. Ann--**
“There ya go! You two have a lovely day and good luck to you Jonny. Keep kicking ass!”
**--Dr. Ann hands some papers back to Jonny before turning and leaving the room with a playful smirk which did not go unnoticed by Gloria. Jonny & Gloria stand up and embrace in a hug celebrating the clean bill of health. Gloria asked Jonny for the papers before they leave the room. Gloria stops to read the papers. It’s revealed on one of the papers that Dr. Ann left her phone number. Gloria doesn’t look too happy but folds up that piece of paper and slides it back in with the rest of the paperwork and catches up with Jonny. The scene fades to black.--**
~~Scene change to the Cedrones’ house~~
**--Jonny is sitting in his office again going over his business papers and periodically looking up at his television as he watches his last two matches involving Zolton and what happened in the back after their handicap match. There’s a knock on the door.--**
“Come in!”
**--Into the room and scene walks James. Jonny looks up to see who walked in. He leans back in his chair and kicks his feet up onto his desk.--**
“Good morning James. Ya know, believe it or not I even missed you.”
“I wish I could say the feeling was mutual sir, but I just can’t in good conscience.”
“I ruined your party plans, huh?”
“Heavens no sir. I had a bloody good one while you were gone sir!”
“I guess as long as you cleaned up after yourself.”
**--James gets a little perplexed--**
“Have you been down in the basement yet?”
“No. Why?”
“Just wondering. I’m glad to hear that you got a clean bill of health sir. That Zordon can sure pack a real wallop! He’s truly trying to rid the world of the White Knight isn’t he?”
“Well try as he might, it ain’t gonna happen. He’s gonna have to kill me to get rid of me. He knows that his grasp on that World Championship is fading and fading fast.”
**--James looks at Jonny in amazement--**
“It must be absolute bliss in that mind of yours sir.”
“What do you mean?!”
“To live in such a fantasy world that you actually believe that you can, not only, defeat Zordon, but win the Championship! DreamState is a pretty fitting name for a show that you’re taking on this god among men. He damn near knocked your head off your shoulders...at DreamState he bloody well could finish the job sir!"
**--Pissed off, Jonny stands up from his chair and leans against his desk--**
“I’m telling you right now, as God as my witness, at DreamState I WILL beat Zordon…er uh…Zolton and I WILL be the new World Champion! I have fought tooth and nail for two years to get to this point and I will NOT let this opportunity pass me by!"
**--Off camera you can hear the door to the room opening. Jonny looks, sports a huge grin and sits back down in his chair…--**
“BABY!”
**--Into the shot comes Gloria who strolls straight to Jonny’s lap. They share a kiss before turning their attention back to James--**
“Hello James.”
“Madam. Always a pleasure.”
“I sure hope I’m not interrupting anything fellas.”
“Oh James here was just telling me his thoughts on this match against Zolton. He thinks I live in a dream state if I think that I have the slightest of a chance to bring the Championship home that night.”
“You don’t think Jonny has what it takes to win James?”
“Madam, surely you don’t believe such rubbish. I believe that Mr. Cedrone has every capability it takes to be World Champion! Even if he doesn’t win it, I’m sure he knows that he’ll forever be the Champion of my heart madam.”
“Very kind words!”
“I meant every syllable madam.”
**--As Gloria looks down at the paperwork that she brought in, Jonny looks at James with a “I’ll get you for lying like that” look and James just shoots a Cheshire cat grin. When Gloria looks back up, both guys lose their respective looks--**
“Could you excuse us for a moment James? I’d like to talk to Jonny in private before the crew gets here.”
“As you wish madam.”
**--James turns to walk off screen but as if you could physically see that proverbial lightbulb go off, he stops dead in his tracks and turns back towards Gloria--*
“I’m terribly sorry madam, but did you say ‘before the crew gets here’?”
“I did James. They’ll be here any minute actually. Jonny has a match coming up that he has to do a promo for.”
“Oh goody gumdrops.”
**--James looks outside the window and sees that the sun is sinking in the distance--**
“It’s awfully late though madam. Shouldn’t Mr. Cedrone be getting his rest? Surely it’d be better if he were to do this promo tomorrow.”
“On your day off?”
“Oh! Is tomorrow my day off? I hadn’t even noticed. Sounds good to me. Glad you thought of it madam!”
“They’ll be here any minute James. This time, let’s try not to hit anyone with a mop please.”
“Hey! The guy deserved it! He was bloody filthy!”
“Best behavior James.”
“Yes madam.”
**--James snarls his lip before walking completely off camera. Jonny and Gloria share another kiss before continuing to talk.--**
“So what was it that you wanted to talk with me about babydoll? Or did you just want to kiss? Because I’m good with that too!”
“As you should be, but I just wanted to talk with ya about something. I feel stupid even bringing it up at all.”
“What’s wrong Princess?”
**--Gloria pulls out that piece of paper with Dr. Ann’s phone number written on it and presents it to Jonny--**
“What’s this?”
“Your doctor from the hospital, Dr. Ann, wrote her number on this piece of paper. What’s that about?”
“Baby, I sincerely don’t know! I didn’t let her think that I was interested in her in any way. Or at least I don’t think I did! If I did, I apologize to you with everything that I am. You know that I left that kind of lifestyle in the past. I have eyes for you and you alone sweetheart and there’s nothing that can change that. You’re the apple of my eye. You and you alone Love. I promise you!”
**--Jonny took the piece of paper, ripped it up and threw the pieces in the air--**
“See? I don’t want that number. The only girl’s number that I want and need is yours.”
“There’s only one problem with what you just did baby.”
“What’s that?”
“It had your next appointment date on it.”
**--Jonny looks down at the pile of confetti a little perplexed--**
“Hm. Well. Either that’s a sign from above that I don’t really need to go to that appointment or…we probably should call the hospital for that information.”
“And ask for another doctor?”
“Absolutely baby!”
**--The couple embrace in a tight hug before the scene fades to black. When the scene fades back in, the location has changed a bit. The room being dimly lit by a nice, warm dancing glow of a fire crackling in the fireplace and another lamp on the other side of the room for added ambiance. Jonny dressed in one of his suits standing at his window looking at the low-rising full moon which looks like it’s so close you could reach out and touch it.--**
“People from all over the world have been sending me messages of all kinds, asking me how I’m doing. I sincerely appreciate all the concern and I fully intend on getting back to each and every one of you! Physically I’m about as close to perfect as you can be. Mentally…Emotionally…not 100%. Zolton fancies himself as the Man of Chaos. A regular Captain Chaos who thrives in making everyone’s life as chaotic as can be so he can have the advantage at every turn. He has no preference on how he inflicts this chaos. It could be in a physical sense, a mental sense, an emotional sense – it doesn’t really matter to him. If he can turn your life upside down, he’s going to do it.”
“Well the truth of the matter is that you can do whatever it is that you want to do to me physically, I’m going to get right back up. But what he’s done with my wife is low…even for him. He’s taken the love of my life and has planted the seeds of doubt in her mind with his constant insinuation that there has been or is something between myself and Ms. Jonae. So now, not only do I have to fight and claw my way to a World Championship reign, I have to fight to keep my blissful marriage intact.”
**--Jonny turns to the camera--**
“Thanks for that Z. Ya know, all of that is just going to make it that much sweeter when I kick your ass and take the World Championship away from you at DreamState!”
**--Jonny slowly starts walking away from the window and over towards the couch. The camera follows his every step--**
“But before we all get to DreamState, we have a very special Halloween edition of Dystopia. On that episode I have the absolute honor to face a man with high morals and much respect for the business. I face a man whose idea of a fun time is going out to the ring and putting on wrestling clinics for the fans. A man who has pride in his work. A man whose standards are set higher and higher each time he goes to the ring. A man who raises that bar of excellence each time he steps foot inside the squared circle.”
**--Jonny sits down on the couch and stares into the camera--**
“Mr. Malone, I’ve read up on you. I’m very impressed. I know we’re not supposed to share trade secrets but out of respect to you – let’s just say that I know how it feels to be sidelined with that injury and not knowing whether you’re going to get back in the ring or not. To be honest, to me the unknown was much scarier than the injury itself. At that time I was so focused on my career that the only thing that I could think of was the fear of losing all of that momentum that I had gained heading into that injury rather than the impact that it would have on my life. Would I become paralyzed…or worse? Neither of that mattered to me at that moment. I wanted back in the ring as quickly as I could, but safely. I didn’t want to sabotage anything just to get back in the ring.”
“So being the workhorse that I presume that you are, you took that time off to heal, mended and built relationships and made your life even better than it was previously before training to get back in the ring. I respect that. I truly admire that Mr. Malone! Just like myself, you too are a former World Champion and let me tell ya, with everything that I’ve seen so far you have what it takes to become World Champion here as well! Before you know it, you’ll be right at the top fighting for the top spot!”
“I have a lot of respect for you Mr. Malone. Your resume speaks for itself and the art that you perform in the ring speaks volumes. On Dystopia you and I will go out and put on a wrestling clinic. We’re going to show the world just why we are the best this company has to offer! With you being as competitive as myself, I’m sure you’re well aware of the fact that no matter how much either one of us may respect the other, the spirit of competition lives on. You and I will go out there and I’m sure we’ll shake hands. But after that handshake, all bets are off. You and I will be going all in. There may not be any Championship gold or contendership on the line, but pride is most definitely on the line. Each of us want to be the best out there. We each want to be known as ‘the better man’. Tell me I’m lyin’. You know just as well as I do that you’re not just in this for the fun Mr. Malone. You’re in this to win it and so am I. You want to go out there and show the world that you deserve to be put in the same category as the World Champion and to be honest you truly deserve that accolade! The thing is that only one person can win this match Mr. Malone.”
“Only one person can receive the spoils of victory. Will it be you? Will it be me? I don’t know how you feel but to me, we’re pretty evenly matched so it’s kinda hard to call right now. But what I do know is that it’s gonna be one helluva match and I look forward to it Mr. Malone and many more to come!”
“So with that being said, from the bottom of my heart I want to say that I’m looking forward to this matchup and I want to wish you the best of luck! May the best man win!”
**--With that Jonny leans back on his couch as the scene fades to black--**

HAUNTING
TEN YEARS AGO The first beads of sweat began to fall down his face, only when "Awake and Alive" by Skillet began pouring through the MLW PA system. It was always the same, the nerves only hit him just before he was set to walk from behind the curtain.
From beyond his own sight, he could hear the roar of the crowd. You could probably hear it from down the street, to be honest, as it continued to grow. They stomped their feet along to the beat as best they could, banging on their chairs. Many had come far and wide just to see him, see what he could do in the ring.
The lights, the cheers. Right before he peeked behind the curtain, he always remembered the times when they weren't there. The times when he had nothing. Adam's hope was that it would keep him humble, and keep him humble it did.
He took a deep breath, hoisted the MLW Grand Championship onto his shoulder, and took a step out onto the ramp.
With his signature smile on his face, the roads hit him directly in the face, no longer having the black curtain as a shield. The increasing noise was all around him, and he did his best to soak it in. Adam outstretched his arms at the top of the ramp, before pointing out into the crowd at no one specific. However, he was certain that someone out there in that general area would make a case on how they knew for sure that Adam was pointing directly to them.
He took a few more seconds at the top of the ramp, lifting the MLW Grand Championship off his shoulder and thrusting it into the air. With a quickened pace now, he made his way down the ring, slapping as many hands as he could. As he made his way down the ramp, he came closer and closer to the two most beautiful girls in the world. His wife, Talon Hartman, was in attendance with their daughter, Alandria "Ali"
He leaned ever so slightly over the railing, as Talon held Ali up to meet his kiss.
"Good luck, Daddy" she whispered into his right ear, her tiny arms wrapped ever so snuggly around his neck.
With the Grand Championship in his hands, he held it up to his family, a perfect photo op for MLW and their golden boy. The lights flashing bounced off the gold plate, shining onto the 'shining example' of a family man. He kissed his wife upon the cheek, before breaking apart from the girls, and sliding back into the ring. Now in the center, he held the belt high one last time to hear the roar of the crowd for their champion. He'd never get tired of that.
Without warning, the music and the lights seemingly cut out all at once, completely changing the tone in the arena.
The temperature in the place seemed to drop; your breath almost visible as it left your body. This was no secret for the MLW crowd, they knew what match they had paid to see, they knew who lurked behind the curtain now.
Slow, methodical drums began to take over the speakers now, and the house lights were the only lights that came back on. The curtain peeled back, and man with in a completely white suit and a lean upon a cane stepped out. He held a sly smirk on his face, raising a finger and pointing directly to Adam Malone down in the ring. Adam starred back, unmoved. From behind him, the curtain started moving again, as a behemoth appeared on the ramp.
Adam had been in this position numerous times before. He'd been starring down the face of something impossible, and still walked out the other end with the belt. But this, this seemed different. The man in white, specifically had tried to unseat Adam before by throwing his weight behind other competitors. But never like this.
As "Iron" Adam Malone looked across the arena at the nearly 7foot monster dawning mask of iron himself, for the first time, he felt beads of sweat fall down his face again. The reaction this time was not due to nerves...but fear.
Watching the pair walk down to the ring, the lights flickering every which way, seemed to take almost an eternity. They got down to the end of the ramp and simply stood there together, looking up at him together. Adam couldn't see the entire facial expression of the man in the iron mask known as RUIN, but he could make out his eyes through the slits in the mask. He was starring directly into them with blinking.
The man in the white suit was the first to move out of the pair, moving to the side of the ring and walking slowly up the steps. As soon as he was to the apron, ducking under the second rope, RUIN also hopped up onto the apron with one leg in one big swoop. He lifted himself up, before meeting Adam inside the ring. It was one thing to stare into those black eyes when he was outside of the ring, and it was another to look UP into them. The seven foot monster towered over him.
Adam stood strong, gritting his teeth and clutching onto his MLW Grand Championship.
BREAK There was a part of me that never thought this would happen. At first, it was pretty small. The smallest it ever could be, barely a grain of sand. At first, I could barely feel it within me, that doubt. As time ticked on, it only grew within me until not only could I notice it, but others could notice it as well. That doubt grew within me, that told me I'd never make it back into the wrestling ring, I'd never accomplish my goals or do what I love again. But here I am!
If my living my story has taught me anything, it's that our minds and bodies are capable of SO much. We don't give it enough credit. We don't give ourselves enough credit really, because we're the ones that are constantly pushing ourselves more and more, harder to be better and stronger. I'm so happy to stand here today and tell you that I am currently undefeated here in WWH. Maybe it's only been a couple of matches here, and one more outside, but somehow I've managed to pull out the win each time. I'm climbing that ladder that I fell off of ten years ago, and I'm determined to make it back to the top. More than that, I'm determined to make it to the WWH World Heavyweight Championship.
I guess that's where I come upon my opponent for this week, and BOY OH BOY, is he an opponent. I suppose management saw my slow climb, maybe even knows a little of my name from back in the day - or possibly caught wind of my intentions - either way, I somehow find myself going up against the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, Johnny Cedrone. Wow! I didn't really expect to get a match like this for quite some time, but I guess if I'm going to talk the talk then I'm going to have to walk the walk, huh? If I'm going to come out here and declare my intentions for the big gold belt in front of all you people, well I better be able to back it up then, huh? That's what I feel is going on here. I feel management is telling me to put up or shut up, and that's what I feel I have to do. I need to prove myself in this situation. Not just to management, but to the WWH fans and all the people in the back!
I know there's got to be people in the back looking at this booking like it's a huge mistake. They're entrusting some major entertainment value into the likes of "Iron" Adam Malone and I appreciate it. All I ever wanted was a second chance, a way to break into the industry and prove that I still belong here. That's what this Dystoia is for me, a second chance to prove I deserve to have my name spoken amongst the Heavyweight title contenders. I deserve to be here.
Good to meet you, JohnnyBoy!
I know this has to be a little confusing for you, doesn't it? You are riding high on one of the biggest highs of your career, I have to imagine. You've been tangled up in this war with the champion, Zolton, awaiting your title shot for winning the War of Attrition. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't even know who I was, just because I assume you've been super busy with everything the champion has been throwing at you, trying to get into your head and everything. I actually feel the need to apologize to you, because I almost feel as if this match is taking away from your own journey. Your own title hunt. Let me assue you that I have no intention of getting in the way of your journey, Johnny. It just so happens that our paths need to cross around now for our journeys to be complete. If anything, I feel the universe is speaking to you, as well. It's given you a challenger worth fighting - ME, right before your title shot. Look at this as a way to sharpen your skills Johnny, just by going up against one another we are seeing what the rest of WWH has to offer, and maybe we can teach each other a few things. Maybe you can learn something new that'll help you defeat Zolton. That's a little big of me to say, but at the very least I can help you and you can help me. We're going to put on one HELL of a match, that's for sure.
I know you've been on a hiatus before Johnny, I know you know where I'm coming from with all this. I'm happy to see someone like you at the top of the mountain, doing what he does best and showing you can work your way back up. You're a former Intentional Champion, the War of Attrition winner, and honestly I'm hoping at DreamState you beat Zolton and I can also call you the WWH World Heavyweight Champion. I hope that when I work my way up to a title shot, that it's you I see on the other side of the ring, and we can have our second one-on-one.
Until that time, we have this match and we have this night. I know you aren't going to make it easy on me, but I hope you know it also won't be an easy one for you. I remain undefeated in these halls and I plan on keeping it that way. You're a little too focused on outside occurrences, and I don't blame you for that. But you also have a new opponent right here and right now outside of Zolton. I'm more than ready for it! I'll see you out there - and next time I'll call you Champ!
TEN YEARS AGO Adam was a mat technician and had never been real fond of No Disqualification matches. However, he had managed to do well thus far against the likes of RUIN, even with his manager - the white suit man - at ringside. Adam used his agility to get around the behemoth, dodging every which way. Naturally, he also took some sick bumps. RUIN was so powerful that he found himself eating a devastating maneuver each time he was caught.
The man in the white suit did reach beneath the ropes, holding Adam still, as he tried to rebound. The slick move made Adam look outside of the ring and kick the man away. Of course it was much too late to rebound, and RUIN closelined him over the top, Adam crashing to the ground below.
By this point there were various foreign objects every which way around the ring and outside of it. The steel steps had even been removed and placed in a separate spot on the ground. Now, RUIN stepped over the top rope, now upon the apron. From the ground level, Adam tried to throw some hard rights but was stopped with a huge elbow to his head. RUIN, using his incredible power, lifted Adam up into a piledriver position on the apron. RUIN leapt into a move he called the Lobotomy, drilling Adam's head right into the steel steps! Adam yelled out in pain devastating pain, clutching his neck. Something was wrong.
Adam continued clutching his neck, laying out on the steel steps, unable to move. The man in the white suit grabbed a nearby chair, giving it to RUIN. He rose the chair above his head, about ready to slam it down onto Adam who was still laying upon the steel steps and clutching his neck.
From the audience - Adam's wife and daughter, Talon and Ali, had jumped the railing. They put their bodies in between Adam and RUIN, lifting their hands up and pleading for RUIN to stop. He held the chair there, waiting for the white suit man's word. He simply started laughing manically, threatening Talon. Talon told Ali to grab the MLW Grand Championship, and in fright, they handed it over to the man in white - deathly afraid of what might happen next.
Luckily, they took it as a token, and RUIN put the chair down. RUIN held the MLW Grand Championship high as Talon and Ali cried over Adam's body who was still clutching his neck, reeling in pain. The EMTs were quickly out next.
Later that night, lying in a hospital bed, he'd be told his neck was broken - and their world would change forever.
