War of Attrition Promo #1
“Scorpion’s Daughter”
(Serenity Hunter walks into the dark hotel room with an underlying feeling of trepidation. It wasn’t every day that she accepted an invitation to a stranger’s penthouse. But the man she was about to see wasn’t any man. In some ways, he was more than such, a figure with his own means to an end. This was a figure who changed her life with just one question, three words that made her question her entire life. Serenity sighed as she placed the keycard delivered to her in its pocket as she walked across the suite. She made her way to the balcony, where the man she was looking for resided. He wore a slick black suit, the kind of suit a male model or rich playboy would wear to a body. Serenity immediately felt underdressed in her t-shirt and jean shorts. Then again it wasn’t a formal gathering, just a meeting of the minds. As Serenity approached him, he turned out: Havoc. The man who changed her life.)
Havoc: Are you happy?
(Serenity tilted her head to the side as she recalled the question that changed the trajectory of her career and personal life.)
Serenity Scorpio: I did say I would have an answer for you, huh?
Havoc: You did.
Serenity Scorpio: Well, if my actions the past few months were any indication...I wasn’t.
Havoc: And now?
Serenity Scorpio: I’m getting there.
(Havoc smiled as he turns back to the cityscape of Avalon, CA.)
Havoc: Good. You turned your back on those who were holding you back and now you’re booked on a PPV singles match. See how things have changed for you? No more Stephanie to control your career. No more Jocelyn weighing you down with weakness. You can be the wrestler your father was - you can even surpass him.
Serenity Scorpio: You ever watch any Black Scorpio matches?
(Havoc smiled as he walked over to a table and poured two glasses of wine.)
Havoc: Actually, I’ve met the man personally. I’m sure you’re aware of my father?
Serenity Scorpio: Chris Velez, aka the original Chris Sabertooth?
Havoc: Yeah. He teamed up with your father a few times. They even fought each other. Backstage, they were good friends. In fact, he was there at the funeral...as was I.
(Serenity’s eyes widen as she took a few steps back.)
Serenity Scorpio: I-I don’t recall you being there.
Havoc: We didn’t meet then, but I remember seeing you from a distance. I remember how soulless those eyes of yours were. You lost a piece of yourself when he passed, and you know who could’ve stopped it?
Serenity Scorpio: Who?
Havoc: Stephanie. She was there ringside when Eddie King delivered the killing blow. If she didn't hesitate to stop her fiance, she would have prevented the worst from happening. I saw a live clip. Instead, she hesitated just like she's still hesitating to end him once and for all.
Serenity Scorpio: I-I thought he was blacklisted and sent to Mexico by Cloud?
(Havoc shakes his head and hands Serenity a full wine glass.)
Havoc: He's alive...sort of. But Stephanie knows where he is.
Serenity Scorpio: …
(Serenity takes a sip and narrows her eyes.)
Serenity Scorpio: Do you know where he's at?
(Havoc nods and takes a sip from his glass.)
Havoc: I do. It's...complicated, but I think I can give you the vindication you're looking for. You just need to give me time. What are you going to do about Stephanie?
(Serenity shrugged and sighed.)
Serenity Scorpio: I'm not going to face any retaliation with her. My mother probably made her promise to not fight me. I only have to worry about Jocelyn, bit we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Havoc: Okay. What about your upcoming match? This is the debut of the new and improved Serenity. You'll be going up against Mercedes Vargas and Jensen-Kid Belmont.
Serenity Scorpio: I'm already familiar with Mercedes Vargas, who I proved I can stand toe to toe with. As for Belmont, I've seen her around, but we never faced each other. It doesn't matter, though. I reached a point where I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get my point across. I was meant for bigger things, Havoc. My legacy demands that I keep my father's legacy alive before Matsuda erases it from existence. She's already done enough to erase my father's memory and gaslight myself. Hell, Mercedes isn't that different from Stephanie. She's a glory hound who doesn't think about anyone else but herself. As for Jensen? She's a non factor. I can deal with her in my sleep.
Havoc: Hmph, you sound pretty cock for someone who haven’t had a singles win in quite some time.
(Serenity shrugged and took another sip.)
Serenity Scorpio: Let’s just say I’ve been properly motivated. If there’s anything I learned from Stephanie is to use others as much as you can.
Havoc: So...you’re using me huh?
(Havoc smiles as he places the glass down. Serenity crosses her arms and walks over to the edge of the balcony to stare out at the city.)
Serenity Scorpio: I’m using you as much as you’re using me. While I appreciate you opening my eyes, I’m in this for myself. With Jocelyn and Stephanie out the way, if I screw up, I can only blame myself. I’m only responsible for myself which is how it should’ve been. I’m know I’m that damn good, Havoc. Wrestling is in my blood. When my father died, I tried to stay away from the business. I didn’t want to wrestle, but one day I met a woman named Reina Kenshin. She was a wrestling and former MMA fighter who pulled me back in. There was something about her that stood out to me and eventually I recieved my first lesson with her. After a while, she had to leave and that’s when Stephanie took over my training. I became good enough to give lessons to beginners. After beating Blake Amderson that one time, I realized my potential as a singles competitor. I voiced my feelings to Cloud and Jocelyn, who encouraged me to stay in a team. They held me down, Havoc. Now, nobody can stop me.
(Havoc took one last sip before placing down his glass.)
Havoc: Good. Now show the world who you are.
(Serenity nodded as she continued looking out at the city lights. She had a lot of work to do, but in the end...it will be worth it.)
